What is Quercetin?

Quercetin is a plant flavonol from the flavonoid group of polyphenols. It is found in many fruits, vegetables, leaves, seeds, and grains; red onions and kale are common foods containing appreciable amounts of quercetin.

Quercetin has a yellow color and a bitter flavor.

How does Quercetin work?

Quercetin has antioxidant properties and protect the body from free radicals, which are unstable molecules in the body that can increase the risk of disease and quicken aging. Quercetin reduces the markers of aging and aids exercise performance.

Quercetin can prevent both acute and chronic inflammation, in addition to showing anti-arthritis properties. It boosts the immune system, aids blood sugar control and maintains general health.

Studies show that quercetin may contain anticancer properties that might help prevent the spread of cancerous cells and reduce tumor growth.

Quercetin may also help to prevent neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, dementia or Parkinson’s disease.

It can be used as an effective antihistamine, as it restricts histamine from being released from cells. These anti-allergy properties indicate that quercetin might help treat bronchitis and asthma.

The same way as onions can the supplement querestin effectivly fight against almost all types of bacteria, particularly those linked to stomach and intestines, skin, respiratory and urinary.

It helps also in cardiovascular diseases and lowers blood pressure.
